Watch Out For These Online Scams

Online scams are evolving with each passing day but scammers are now targeting you through a computer and mobile device near you. They will steal your money and your personal information online; they are what we call modern-day fraudsters. Scammers use so many online mediums so there is a good chance you will be contacted by a scammer sometimes if you have not been already. You can protect your money and personal information by recognizing these scams in the first place.

Dating or romance scams

Romance scams are very common where scammers will establish an online romantic relationship with people over weeks, months, and even years. They claim to be in love with the victims early in the relationship and demonstrate genuine interest – calling, emailing, and messaging often. Scammers will give victims many excuses for not being able to meet in person and play with their emotions so give them money. These online scams are so devious that leave victims ashamed and restrain them from taking any legal steps. If you use social media and dating apps, you may come across these frauds so be careful and do not fall for these romance scams instead report these users right away.

Phishing scams

You get an email that appears to be from a well-known company that you trust, like your bank, university, or favorite retailer. The message sends you to a website, typically to verify personal data such as passwords and email addresses, where it steals your information and leaves your machine vulnerable to assault by scammers. Phishing romance scams are some of the most common attacks on consumers. Scammers send an email and text messages frequently to people and trick people to click on the link. As soon as the person opens the link, the computer or the mobile phone gets hung and the scammer gets access to them.
